I’m so excited to share that my latest YOGA TEACHER TRAINING program is starting this winter. I actually don’t love calling it that though, (even though it’s an accurate title!). You *will* be 100% ready to teach with this 200hr Yoga Alliance certified program. (This is part due to the fact that we intentionally keep the student class small, so each person receives ample time to practice teach, as well as there’s plenty of opportunity to connect with the instructors, “off hours”).
However the reason why I don’t love the teacher training name, is it’s limiting. If you choose to join us in February, you’ll transform in unexpected ways. I’m not sure I can describe how or why it happens, but you’ll grow and learn about yourself throughout the 6+ month program. I’m so thankful that I get to watch it happen 🙂
Back in 2000 (!) I was living in NYC, working in the fashion industry and randomly stumbled upon a yoga class, and I was IMMEDIATELY hooked. I fell in love with yoga. Just about three years later, I began taking a 200 hour YTT program at Be Yoga in NYC. At the time I had no intention of teaching. nor did I think I was “good enough” to teach, but I definitely wanted to learn more, so that’s where I started.
Over time, (and when I moved to the ‘burbs!) I put myself out there a bit and started to teach yoga classes. It took a lot of courage as I’m not particularly extroverted, but I also knew that I wanted to do it. Like anything, it took time for me to get work/classes, and time to feel more confident… but many years later, here I am.
There is a beautiful variety of material to learn: categories on poses (backbends, forward bends, inversions, standing poses and more) and how to teach them. The topic of (and science behind) meditation, the ancient texts, anatomy, the chakras, the gunas, 8 astanga limbs and many more….. I love seeing the connection and understanding of yoga happen, and it has inspired me to re-read and dive in deeper to some of the yoga topics that I “forgot” for lack of a better word. Inspiring for all of us.
Please join Westchester Yoga and I as we co-teach our latest 200-hour YTT beginning February 2024. Whether you DO want to be a teacher right now, or deepen your own practice like I thought I was doing – lol-, this is a truly wonderful in-person program (& a BIG BONUS: all content is backed up ONLINE, so you can watch, or re-watch anything you missed or want to review again). I would love to share this experience with you. Reach out to me for questions and to sign up 🙂
