I am touched by the generosity of the yoga practitioners, along with our community at large (including the Rye Recreation Center who donated their space), who participated in my 3rd annual donation-only yoga class, benefitting Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. Their mission is to prevent gun-related deaths due to crime, suicide, and accidental discharge so that no other parent experiences the senseless, horrific loss of their child. 90 Americans are killed by guns every single day, and 7 are children. In fact, 1.5 million Americans have been killed by guns in this country since 1968.
Together we raised $2650! These funds will have an large impact in aiding Sandy Hook’s approach in continuing to build a national movement of parents, schools and community organizations, who are engaged and empowered to deliver gun violence prevention programs and mobilize our government to pass sensible state and national gun policy.
